The ED's actions come after they conducted searches on Friday at the residences of Raj Kundra and his wife, actress Shilpa Shetty, along with several other locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. The searches are reportedly related to the 2021 porn production case, in which Kundra was initially arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch on multiple charges under the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act. However, he was later released on bail.
Shilpa Shetty's Lawyer Responds
Meanwhile, Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer has issued a statement clarifying that the actress is not involved in any criminal activity related to the case. The statement read, “There have been misleading reports claiming that Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s residence was raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are false. There has been no raid on Mrs. Shetty’s property, and she has no involvement in any such matter.”
The lawyer further emphasized that the investigation is solely focused on Raj Kundra, who is cooperating with the authorities to ensure that the truth comes out. He requested the media to refrain from using Shilpa Shetty's name, pictures, or videos in connection with the ongoing investigation and warned that legal action would be taken against irresponsible journalism.
Background of the Case
This investigation stems from a high-profile pornography production case that came to light in 2021, in which Raj Kundra was accused of being a key figure. Despite his initial arrest, Kundra has consistently denied the allegations. The Enforcement Directorate’s recent searches are part of the ongoing efforts to gather evidence related to the case.
As of now, Raj Kundra is set to face further questioning on Monday, and the case continues to attract significant attention from both the media and the public.
